No, cash is not essential on the Coromandel Explorer guided hike, but you’re welcome to bring a small amount, if you wish, in case we make a spontaneous coffee or icecream pitstop! It’s also a good idea for the odd occasion where EFTPOS facilities might either be unavailable, or not working correctly. There are ATM facilities in Coromandel township, which is a short drive from our accommodation, but there are no currency exchanges so please bring New Zealand dollars with you.
