There is Wi-Fi available nearby at Te Kura Whenua / Tuhoe Visitors Centre, just a short stroll away from your chalet. There is a landline pay-phone at the main reception office as well. While we’re out on the trails you won’t have mobile reception or internet access. Our guides will have satellite communication with our head office so if you need to be contacted in an emergency we’ll make sure we can get hold of you by other means.
In general communications can be patchy and inconsistent in a remote area such as Te Urewera. If you’re planning to be on-call for any work-related activities or emergencies it would be best to advise that you’ll be unavailable for large parts of the day and potentially only able to check email in the evenings.
