Good question! In general, the roads we travel on Great Barrier Island are well-maintained, bitumen-surfaced single carriageways. In days of old, roads were mostly unsealed but these have now been upgraded by Auckland City Council.
If you suffer from car sickness, please equip yourself with whatever remedies you prefer to use to alleviate the discomfort. The best time to purchase medicinal supplies is before you arrive at Auckland Airport. There is a small pharmacy on the island, but store opening hours are often inconvenient and impractical, so we recommend you bring what you need with you on the plane.
If you prefer to sit in the front seat to help your car sickness, please do tell your guide! We will do whatever we can to make you more comfortable.
